Trak Engineering, Inc.  Is a Small Engineering Corporation recently formed (founded 1/30/07) spun off of from a much larger engineering firm by owner, founder, and primary contact Frank M. Traknyak, P.E.  We provide Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP) engineering. The combined experience dedicated to this project by Trak Engineering, Inc. exceeds 150 years.

Flexible Labs
Our project planning involves a methodical process of discerning the requirements of administration, principle researchers, end users, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), operations, maintenance, and the particular science being researched in order to identifying the appropriate mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection unique requirements. We believe the success of any project lies in the proactive planning of a project and then the disciplined implementation of that plan. Our planning process includes:

a. Evaluation and clear understanding of project scope and schedule

b. Implementing 5 key laboratory design points which include
   1. Energy Saving Design
   2. Flexible and Expandable lab design
   3. Sustainable Design
   4. Designing Functional labs, Controls, and MEP systems
   5. Understanding the Science and Facility Operations

c. Planning of project design phase tasks and manpower needs to match project schedule requirements

Our planning process involves workshops to interview principle researchers, end users, EH&S personnel, operations, and maintenance departments utilizing our Laboratory Basis of Design Questionnaires (BDQ). This BDQ is used to develop our Basis of Design document which in turn drives the design process to ensure the implementation of all the client’s specific needs. Our goal is to provide a usable, efficient, flexible and safe research facility yet balancing administrations needs for a cost effective design meeting capital and operation budget constraints as well as schedule.
